Meet Our Founder
Jebakumar (JK)
Jebakumar, fondly known as JK in media circles and among Chithirai members, is a seasoned professional with a dynamic career that spans across accounting, media, literature, and social transformation. Holding a B.Com degree from St. John's College, Palayamkottai, and having completed the CA Intermediate, JK's journey began in the realm of finance. However, his true passion lies in media and driving social change.
One of the pioneering writers of business content in Tamil, JK started contributing to the Tamil business magazine "Valarthozhil" in 1988. His exceptional writing skills and keen insights led him to become the sub-editor of "Poruladharam," further cementing his role in Tamil business journalism.
In 1994, his interests expanded to literature, where he published numerous books and ran a little magazine that garnered several awards for its excellence. His passion for storytelling and history saw him author biographies and a poetry collection, highlighting his versatility as a writer.
In 1998, JK moved to Dubai, where he continued his multifaceted career. As the founder and CEO of the Tamil 24*7 News Channel "Sathiyam," and the editor of the current affairs magazine "Puthiyadharisanam," he made significant contributions to Tamil media. Despite his success, JK realized that media often created sensation rather than the lasting transformation he aspired to achieve.
Driven by the belief that economic empowerment is the key to social transformation, JK founded Chithirai in 2017. This Tamil Business Networking platform aims to uplift and empower the Tamil community through shared prosperity and innovative economic models. Under his visionary leadership, Chithirai has grown into a thriving network, dedicated to creating meaningful social change.
Today, JK continues to inspire and lead, committed to his mission of fostering economic empowerment and transforming society. His journey from a professional accountant to a media influencer and now a champion of social transformation is a testament to his dedication and passion for making a difference.
